Summer Solstice Tour
Saturday, June 25, 11am
Meet at 11am at the Park and Ride lot off of Route 28 Exit 17 on Route 356. We
will be leaving about 11:30am from this far southeast corner of Butler County
and heading north and west over some nice back roads to the northwest corner
of the county. Our destination is about 50 miles away at the North Country
Brewing Co. in Slippery Rock, PA. This is an old furniture store and funeral
home turned into a college town brew pub. School will be out for the summer, so
there shouldn't be a large crowd when we arrive. The restaurant has two floors,
with a bar on each, so we should fit in just fine. While scouting out the place, we
tried the beer battered fish sandwich with hand cut fries and the buffalo chicken
wrap, which came with sweet potato chips. Both were good, but apparently they
are known for their burgers. I looked at the burgers served to the adjacent table,
and they do look good. Best of all was the beer. We only tried the cask
conditioned ale, which is a rotating selection. It was a nicely hopped Irish pale
ale, but not too strong on the hops. I could be very happy with this selection all
the time! A good bitter style ale!! Let's hope they have something just as nice on
tap when we arrive. If you have any questions, call Don Stewart at 412-963-1893
